Kuch Pal..

Kuch palon ka yeh saath tumhaara..
kahi sapne bun ne lage hum..
kuch khatti kuch meethi baatein..
hazaaron khwaishe ab chun ne lage hum...
palkon ki haseen chaavon mein..
tera chehra ghar kar gaya kab..
waqt ke beetne ka ehsaas na hua..
tere kareeb ab aagaye hum..
anjaani si in raahon mein...
tere sahaare ab chal pade hum..
pyaari si tere muskaan pe..
apne saare gum bhula baithe hum..
kuch din pehle, jo anjaane the..
pal bhar mein apne bangaye hum..
har chhoti si baat ki jo fiqr kare...
aise saathi ban gaye hum..
na hosh sansaar ka, na kisiki ijaazat..
apne hi dhun mein madhosh hokar..
is zamaane ko bhool baithe hum...
ise dosti kahu, pyaar ya ibaadat?
ise junoo kahu, ya teri mohabbat??
is aashiqui mein dil jud gaye kuch aie..
ab toh shama jal rahi hain, us parwaane ki kasam!!!

Who Can Say??

Who can say why my eyes are wet?
as I see you go the last time..
Who can say why my heart cries?
as I see my love fade and die..
Who can say why I yearn?
for a loving look and a warm hug..
Who can say why my body trembles?
as I feel you go leaving a deep cavern..
when our roads met and become one?
when our souls met in a lover's song?
I know not that moment nor the time..
I know not that season creeping by..
The feelings in my heart are honest and true..
my heart plays its own rhythm for you..
I do not own you nor do I possess you..
I know this way is not where you go..
But I give my heart the freedom to show..
all its yearnings naked for you..
The pain and pleasure come together with you..
I chose the pleasure and accept the pain as a virtue..
who can say how long I have you?
as I see we are two travelers at a crossroad..
who can say what I'll do when you leave?
mask the pain and smile..
remembering you as a sweet memory!!!

Soul Mate

All alone as she spent her days...
her love far away, no friends anymore..
a vacant soul emptied of promises..
in the silent streets of life roamed about...

Every face she looked at, she searched for a smile..
the one that rejoiced her heart, was no where to find....
her silent pain lay deep in her heart..
where no one tried to reach, nor would anyone try...

Her loneliness was her companion, prodding her ahead..
Do not stop, it said, as she lay down tired..
Her slender shoulders shrunk, her spine bent..
she was going down the valley all spent..

When all she wanted was to give up...
her search for a soothing friend..
she found a face that smiled back..
a smile that rejoiced her heart again..

She treasured the warmth she felt in those eyes..
strengthening her soul, enriching her life..
A moment of acknowledgement is all it took..
to make a stranger, the elixir of her life...

Love... Wedding... then what? Death?

She loved him... So much, that she leaves her home for him! She gets married and dreams of a life with him. A dream where there is love, care, Passion & affection.. but did she dream about disloyality? Did she ever think about a day when her dreams would be splashed red? What made her trust him so much and how did such faith go wrong??? How did the man of her dreams end up silencing her for ever?
What is it that makes someone go to these extremes? What extent of passion could have provoked a man to brutally kill his own wife? Burn her? alive? A beautiful face, a cheerful smile, bright sparkling eyes all lost into eternity, in a single moment of emotion!!! I once saw a chicken roasting.. its oil dripping.. its skin turning magenta and then brown and then roasted! Was that how she died? How much pain? how much did she suffer? How could anyone do that to someone they loved?
The promises made of not leaving each other ever.. was it all a bluff? A parody of emotions? is that all? She was some one's child, some one's friend, some one's sister... she had a million dreams... she was just a child... she was still in the spring of her life... It feels like yesterday when I laughed with her... gossips, jokes, giggles... and today all those are sounds from some other time!!!
What should be his punishment? What could replace a life taken? a voice silenced for ever???
Will she never come back again? Will I ever laugh with her again?

The girl who could fly...

She ran barefoot on the beach. She let the ocean think she almost fell when it teasingly pulled away the sand from underneath
her feet…she knew that the ocean loved to tease her…she knew the ocean loved her…because the ocean wanted her to fly…
She would paint herself everyday…rustic crimson of sunrise…the mocha of swirling hot coffee…the ochre of sands … the oranges
and reds of phoenix kites that boys in navy blue flew….the scarab beetle blacks, autumn leaf browns or rare jade green of
their eyes….what color though was the crinkling laughter in all those eyes? Laughter had no colour perhaps.....
Monarch butterflies came to greet her…and resting momentarily on her shoulder…painting her yellow and then they flew…their
tiny wings tickling the winds… …
They flew….not because they were monarchs….not because they had wings….but because they were alchemists….and somewhere a tree
waiting to be turned into gold….
When the alchemists flew away, She would wait for the soaring eagles ….and listen…to the eagles speak about the sun…she asked
them,” I want to be painted by the sun….What is the real color of the sun?”…

”Only when you fly….soar high enough….only then can you see the sun and the sun sees you.
“Can you teach me?”…Teach me how to fly…

“There is a cliff at the end of the beach. Climb it.
When you have climbed it having no idea whether there is a crevice above…having every idea that nothing was there to stop you
from falling…
When you stop feeling every desire…for decoration…symmetry…contentment…consequence…rationale…when you are free of
everything….of freedom itself….of every desire except flight…when there is no bigger truth for you and no bigger belief that
you can indeed fly…Then…That day….You will fly.
And then the eagles flew away….

The people had gathered at the beach next day…shielding the children away from the horrific sight…a girl had plummeted in the
ocean…a girl dressed in a crimson robe of abrasions…her broken fingernails caked with dried blood…her arms outstretched…like
a fallen eagle… then shook their heads…..Ah!...she was always queer!....the barefoot vagabond…

When the people had left….the ocean came out of her feigned slumber…..and caressed her….and cradled her to the shore….
The alchemists draped her ….and kissed her bruised….radiant…ethereal face….
And then they took off…from the palms of those outstretched arms….Those arms pulling the sky in embrace…

The eagles were circling above the ocean….and then they soared towards the sun…to tell him about the girl…who believed she
could fly….
Little did they know the sun was hiding behind his cumulous veil…..picking colours from his arched palette….painting wings on
the girl who flew….

Destiny

That first day I saw you shy,
Your lips tremble & mouth a sigh,
Your anxiety to hold me close
Look into my eyes and touch my soul…

An invisible sheath of uncertainty,
Hung loose in between us,
An unsaid agreement of silence,
To live in just this moment, abandoning the truth

No words of promise
Faith, the name of the game
That this was a bridge crossed forever
Would never have occurred to me

That this would be my identity, I barely knew
That a lifetime apart I would still believe
That what started as a frivolous gesture
Was meant to be my destiny by rule!

Faith

Whats this all about? These words faith, trust, Commitment? I keep pondering over these words... I feel these terms are relative. If I have faith in something or someone I would trust everything about it/him. If I tell someone I'll be late tonight and recieve a zillion calls enquiring my whereabouts, would that be concern or lack of faith? I'm a human so If the person calling is my parent, I would say concern but if it is someone who has to have faith in me, I would say lack of faith. See my point? What if a woman marries quite late? someone told me the other day, she could face problems conceiving! what if she does? and what if she can't? Who would she look up to? would she regret her decision of being late? would she regret her ideology that marraige and conceiving is not the sole purpose of existence of a woman? What would she do if her partner, the person she trusts looks at her with accusing eyes? How many men would understand that its more important to have the person you love beside you, a child could be adopted? I would not regret and feel guilty, coz I trust, that person in my life would weigh my existence over any natural disasters. Thats faith for me!
